Dromoland Castle, one of Ireland's most prestigious 5* Hotels is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Weddings & Events. The ideal candidate must have experience working in a 4* or 5* Hotel and have managed all aspects of the Weddings & Events Department including budgets, forecasting along with proactive & reactive sales.
Overview of Role:
* Direct day-to-day wedding and conference activities, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members.
* Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
* Educate and train team members in compliance with Dromoland Castle brand standards, service behaviours, and governmental regulations.
* Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
* Participate in the preparation and presenting of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans for the upcoming year.
* Monitor budget and upsell products and services while minimising waste to increase revenue.
* Complete forecasts, plans, and productivity reports for management.
* Negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines in conjunction with the Commercial Director.
* Develop the sales and marketing collateral for weddings and social events in conjunction with the Marketing team.
* Conduct banquet and catering facility and site tours and entertain clients to enhance the guest's meeting/banquet experience.
* Work alongside Director of Resort Sales in the planning and selling of event space to maximise revenue for group business.
* Arrange all details of meetings and conventions to include room set-ups, staging, lighting, audio-visual, traffic flow, menus, decor, entertainment, group room blocks, and VIP services.
* Attend and solicit external events such as wedding shows & corporate events business on behalf of Dromoland Castle both (domestically & internationally).
The Ideal Candidate:
* Minimum of 4 years experience working at a senior level in a 4* or 5* Hotel.
* Relevant 3rd year Qualification.
* To fit seamlessly into a very busy department and lead the Dromoland Castle Wedding Sales Team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly & outgoing personality.
* The ability to thrive under pressure.
* Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency and working knowledge of relevant Hotel Operating Systems.
* Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
