Curam Care Homes is seeking motivated Activities Assistants within our team in Courtown, Co. Wexford.
The Activities Assistant will ensure the highest standard of care to enhance residents quality of life. Meaningful activities is an essential component of the quality of life, including those with cognitive and physical disabilities. The purpose of the Activities Assistant post is to assist in the implementation of a Meaningful Activity Program within the home to ensure that all older people can participate in meaningful and life enhancing activities as part of their daily life in residential care. This includes older people with cognitive, physical, sensory and intellectual impairments.
Requirements
* Keep checklists updated and work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the Activities Department.
* Ensure that all work is carried out while ensuring resident safety.
* Practice and ensure that infection control guidelines are adhered to at all times and being practiced by employees.
* Work cooperatively and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Ensures that all incidents are reported to the Director of Nursing.
* Be professional, friendly and approachable in all interactions with residents, visitors and staff.
* To regularly assess the effectiveness of the social events and Meaningful Activities program in Curam Care Homes.
* To be familiar with risk assessments for outside trips etc.
* To provide inspirational resources and ideas for social events/activities.
* Participate in staff, resident and departmental meetings as scheduled by Director of Nursing.
* Must be of professional, caring and empathetic nature.
* Good standard of verbal and written English.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland is essential.
* Investigates and takes action to meet residents' current and future needs.
* Works effectively with residents in clarifying and responding to their needs.
* Takes responsibility to follow up with residents to ensure their needs and expectations are satisfied.
* Collaborates with others in their team to ensure the residents are receiving the highest quality of care.
* Takes initiative, never leaving the resident left waiting unnecessarily.
