Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage our end-to-end network testbeds. You will play a critical role in supporting our lab teams by building, maintaining, and reconfiguring lab equipment to meet their specific testing needs. This role requires a strong understanding of IP networking, routing & switching protocols, and the ability to develop test automation scripts.
Responsibilities
1. Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end lab testbeds based on provided requirements.
2. Provide qualified network engineering support for installation and decommissioning of cabinets and network equipment.
3. Verify and troubleshoot connectivity and health of network devices within the testbeds.
4. Build, maintain, and reconfigure lab equipment to meet the specific needs of the lab teams.
5. Develop test automation scripts, troubleshoot network protocols, testbeds, and execute test campaigns.
6. Configure IPv4/IPv6/Ethernet networking for various testbed elements such as mobile devices, switches, routers, wireless/cellular equipment, servers, including ports, firewalls, ACLs, and NAT rules.
7. Configure Linux-based systems (servers, compute, databases) that are part of the testbeds, and ensure proper network interconnectivity with enterprise systems, production systems, and internet access.
8. Develop test scripts to extract network metrics from devices, protocols, and databases through API queries, WebSocket interfaces, and Android debugging tools (adb).
9. Assist in maintaining additional lab infrastructure such as compute and storage systems, monitoring systems, and test equipment.
10. Analyze and compare test results from test campaigns and prepare comprehensive reports in a presentable format.
Recommended Qualifications
11. Subject matter expertise in IP Networking/Routing & Switching (TCP/IP, IPv4/v6, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and/or MPLS). Network certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, RHCSA, or equivalent experience are highly preferred.
12. Experience with 100G/400G Ethernet and CWDM, DWDM, and optical transport network technologies. Experience configuring and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols (BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, VRRP) is a plus.
13. Proven ability to analyze complex situations, troubleshoot and root cause system issues, and solve problems efficiently.
14. Experience working in data centers, colocation facilities, internet exchanges, or central offices. Working knowledge of physical network infrastructure, including power, cooling, structured cabling, and fiber-optic cabling, is a plus.
15. Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware.
16. Familiarity with Linux-based systems and experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl) is essential.
17. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
18. Work experience in designing, deploying, and operating large-scale networks.
19. Experience in deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols (BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, VRRP) and Optical Transport Networks (OTN) is a plus.
20. Experience with a revision control system (e.g., Git) is preferred.
