Overview
We're National Broadband Ireland and we're delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We're designing, building and operating Ireland's new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBI™ network using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment will deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 554,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:
NBI is looking for an experienced Quality Control Engineer who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth. You will be responsible for the reviewing and acceptance of the quality and integrity of optical network at handover stage from our Build Partners. You will be responsible for handover to Operations, including training and upskilling both contractors and local O&M teams to enable delivery to SOP standards and a seamless transition. You will work closely with construction teams for the network roll out.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Audit of all handover packs from construction contractor including OTDR, Active power and photos reviews on backhaul, core and access networks.
2. QC of design work packs prior to construction.
3. Oversight of network build and test parameters including SOP adherence and standards.
4. End to end verification of designs and as-built documentation.
5. Guarantee network resilience's and robust construction.
6. Review of SOP & passive equipment for suitability.
7. Trouble shoot provisioning issues during construction and hand off.
8. Liaise and engage proactively with NOC, GIS, Design & Construction teams to ensure seamless build.
9. Baseline network with NOC team for active monitoring.
10. Support provided once handover to sales & service delivery has taken place.
Knowledge & Experience:
11. 5+ years operations experience in the telco construction environment
12. Hands on experience of passive construction with focus on optical elements.
13. Skilled in OLT/ODN trouble shooting, OTDR testing, Fibre Fault finding, Core Fibre, FTTx
14. In depth knowledge of FTTH topology and architecture with high level of experience in reading and implementing complex Splice matrix & designs.
15. Highly responsible with an ability to work on call and on own initiative.
16. Excellent understanding Microsoft platforms.
17. Excellent written, oral communication, reporting and presentation skills.
18. Excellent people skills.
19. Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
