Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of plant maintenance and reliability. This includes ensuring safe work practices and repair/replacement of plant equipment and systems to effect maximum production quantity and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads the Maintenance Department safety program to achieve plant safety goals, including Zero Injuries.
2. Member of Plant Leadership Team.
3. Supervises plant maintenance personnel including a planner/scheduler, inventory coordinator, electrical personnel, reliability engineer and mechanics.
4. Manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the roofing industry, emphasizing effective planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
5. Plan, coordinate and prioritize maintenance requirements in conjunction with operations departments to obtain minimum cost and high reliability.
6. Ensures that maintenance mechanics are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that maintenance procedures are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
7. Communicates regularly with all maintenance mechanics, both individually and as a group, to ensure two-way information flow.
8. Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance mechanics.
9. Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department and supports mechanic skill development.
10. Maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
11. Maintains equipment history, repair records, repair frequency and resource library.
12. Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment.
13. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
14. Implements preventative and predictive maintenance program.
15. Controls the repair and maintenance budgets, ensuring they are in line with the fiscal plan.
16. Implements cost reductions to offset negative or unplanned variances to budget.
17. Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Maintenance Manager Job:
18. Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (BSME is preferred).
19. 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience in a roofing or similar continuous manufacturing operation.
20. Financial acumen to optimize plant overall plant performance metrics at minimum cost.
21. Experience with repair and maintenance of process equipment.
22. Ability to conduct assessments, audits and evaluations to measure progress.
23. Leadership skills to manage diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and skill-sets.
24. Analytical, data-driven problem-solving and action planning skills.
25. Effective oral and written communication skills.
26. Ability to make independent and sound decisions.
27. Strong interpersonal skills to influence and drive results through others.
28. Must be self-motivated, results and action-oriented.
