Department: Trade Counter Reports to: Store Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Job Description: As a Sales and Customer Service Assistant at our Trade Counter, you will be the face of our hardware store, providing excellent customer service to both trade and retail customers. Your main role will be to assist in selling building materials, hardware products, and agricultural (Agri) supplies. You will play an integral role in providing product knowledge, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining the smooth operation of the trade counter. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service: Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Understand customer needs and provide expert advice on building materials, hardware products, and agricultural supplies. Handle customer inquiries, product availability questions, and follow up on order status. Resolve customer issues or complaints efficiently and escalate when necessary. Sales: Drive sales by recommending appropriate products and upselling where possible. Process sales transactions accurately through the point-of-sale system. Promote special offers, loyalty programs, and new products to customers. Assist in maintaining product displays and ensuring shelves are stocked and organized. Product Knowledge: Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of our full product range, including building materials, hardware tools, and agricultural products. Stay up to date on new product lines and developments in the trade and agricultural industries. Assist in the training of colleagues to enhance product knowledge within the team. Stock Management: Assist in managing stock levels by receiving deliveries and checking stock. Monitor stock levels in assigned categories and replenish stock as needed. Conduct regular stock takes and maintain accurate records. Health & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and ensure that the trade counter environment is safe and clean for staff and customers. Assist with the loading and unloading of goods when required. Other Duties: Support store operations, including maintaining the cleanliness of the trade counter and other areas. Collaborate with team members and support various departments as needed. Take part in training and development programs to continuously improve skills and service delivery. Person Specification: Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or sales role is preferred, particularly in a trade, hardware, or agricultural environment. Experience working in a retail or trade counter environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with building materials, hardware tools, or agricultural products is advantageous, though not essentialtraining will be provided. Basic IT and point-of-sale (POS) system experience is required.
