To support their ambitious growth strategy, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their management team. The RoleIn this role you will be responsible for preparing and managing all costs associated with various types of joinery and commercial fit out projects, from tender preparation until completion. You will work closely with the project team to ensure the smooth running of projects and that the business objectives in terms of health and safety, profitability and client expectations are main accountabilities of this role are: Price all work, with a specific focus on all joinery works and furniture fit-out, complete detailed tenders from start to finish, accurately and on time Issue tender queries, prepare tender documents and follow up on tenders submitted. Proactively engage with contractors on tender. Liaise with clients and project team from initial enquiries through to final accounts. Monitor all projects & manage risk & associated budgets. Re-measure and price all variations and day-works. Prepare internal cost value comparisons (CVCs) on each project for comment by directors, and inclusion in monthly accounts. Prepare and agree project final accounts with client representatives. Compile and present a cost v/s Actual on all contracts over a set value. Maintain database of supplier costs and update as required Assist in sourcing specialised material Undertake a continuous review of existing suppliers for all aspects of the costing process The Person:The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: Experience Minimum 3-5 years in a similar role (QS /Estimator), in construction or fit-out and joinery projects. Experience with all aspects of completing a formal tender from start to finish Proven track record of maximising revenue and contribution through team management Skills & Knowledge Detailed knowledge of all materials included in joinery manufacturing like MDF, hardwoods, metalworks, lighting, glass, solid surface, stone, fabrics etc. Detailed knowledge of joinery components and ability to cost joinery items Ability to break down a drawing and quantify materials Proven continuous learning of new materials and methods of manufacturing Understanding of modern manufacturing and assembly techniques Strong computer skills - Excel Fluency in English is essential - spoken and written Personal Characteristics Commercial savvy, highly numerate and articulate. Determination, drive and the ability to deliver effectively under pressure Effective communications with exceptional negotiating and influencing skills Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills Must possess a dynamic approach to achieving continuous improvement Willing to travel throughout various sites in Ireland if necessary. However, this is primarily an office-based role. A full clean driving licence is essential.
