Job Objectives
We are seeking applications for the role of a Designated Safeguarding Officer. The Designated Safeguarding Officer will co-ordinate the ongoing development and implementation of Safeguarding and complaints policies and procedures within Nua Healthcare Services
This will include the following on a day-to-day basis:
1. Live our Mission, Vision and Values.
2. Responsible for ensuring that the standard reporting procedure is always followed.
3. Effective reporting internally and externally of all Safeguarding concerns
4. Liaising with the relevant HSE Safeguarding and Protections Teams per CHO Area and An Garda Siochana in relation to Safeguarding concerns raised, where required.
5. Obtain sufficient documentation to complete a preliminary screening on all allegations.
6. Liaise with Peron in Charge to develop safeguarding plans.
7. Liaise with The Director of Services, relevant Multi-Disciplinary Team Members and/or delegate to ensure that Clinical Supports are in place for the individuals where required.
8. Communicate with the Director of Services, relevant Multi-Disciplinary Team Members and/or delegate safeguarding plans and actions to be discussed at clinical meeting and follow up on all actions.
9. To properly investigate, record and act as required in all matters pertaining to Safeguarding issues.
10. Ensure that an up-to-date register relating to Safeguarding, Comments, Complaints and Compliments is maintained of all allegations/concerns raised.
11. Liaising with Directors of Operations in relation to any comments/concerns/ complaints raised.
12. Send written acknowledgements in response to any complaints.
13. Completing investigation reports in relation to any complaints/concerns raised.
14. Ensuring policies relating to comments/compliments/complaints are updated regularly.
15. Obtain sufficient documentation to complete investigation report on concerns/ complaints raised.
16. Ensure that an up-to-date register is maintained of all complaints/concerns raised.
17. Ensure that the register of all complaints/concerns is sent to Management on a weekly basis.
18. Liaising with the relevant bodies in investigating all complaints/concerns raised.
19. Attend weekly Safeguarding Review Meetings/ Refresher Training and Site Visits, where required.
20. Facilitate Safeguarding Training to Team Members where required.
Skills Requirement
Qualifications:
21. Level 7/8 Degree or working towards degree in Social Studies (or suitable equivalent qualification with a management qualification in healthcare).
Knowledge:
22. Knowledge of standards and legislation relevant to the area.
Experience:
23. Experience in a similar role.

24. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to adapt to new environments.
25. Enthusiastic, proactive self-motivator who can provide holistic supports of the highest quality.
26. Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with IT Packages.
