Reporting to the Business Health & Safety Manager, this role is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate individual to develop a career with a leading Irish organisation with the key goal of engaging and focusing the site on health and safety. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities for the Ingredients Health & Safety Officer are as follows:
Implement, improve and enhance the sites safety management system.
Support, advise, and provide technical expertise to Managers in ensuring legislative compliance and improving health and safety in the business.
To conduct and attend regular meetings with the plant managers and supervisors.
Support managers in performing risk assessments and implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements.
To support and implement Arrabawn's leading indicator programme including the reporting of good saves, completion of safety audits and inspections and safety conversations.
To ensure all accidents and near misses are fully reported and investigated.
To review, develop, and implement health and safety procedures, policies, work instructions, checklists and other documentation as required.
Identify training needs and assist in the management of training records.
To assist as required in the design of training plans and training courses.
To deliver health and safety inductions and other safety training as required.
To liaise and coordinate with external consultants.
Coach employees on positive health & safety practices.
Carry out emergency plans and fire drills.
Support the Contractor Management System.
To support the preparation of health safety reports for the business.
To monitor and populate Health & Safety Metrics for the business.
To attend monthly safety committee meetings and record the associated meeting minutes for each division.
To assist in the coordination and ordering of Health & Safety related materials including signage, PPE, first aid materials, chemical spill kits, Dipotherne etc.
Perform other duties required in line with business needs.
KEY EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Relevant third level Certificate qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
* Experience of working in a manufacturing/food production company is desirable.
* Thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
* Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
Strong computer literacy - word, excel, PowerPoint etc and preferable experience in working with online management systems is preferred.
* Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
* Highly organised, motivated, and driven.
* Train the Trainer, Manual Handling or other Instructor qualifications desirable but not essential.
