Position Summary
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor is responsible for providing HSE support, advice and solutions for the STERIS AST and laboratory operations at Tullamore, Ireland. This position will work with the regional HSE team and site leadership team to implement and integrate health, safety and environment standards, systems and related initiatives to ensure compliance with local national regulations and STERIS global / regional HSE requirements. The position will also support the Ireland/Regional HSE Manager in driving high standards of safety performance enabling the STERIS business to achieve its HSE objectives.
Working closely with the regional HSE team and the operational business to champion, communicate and ensure the delivery of the regional HSE strategy with the objective of making and keeping the business safe against existing and emerging health and safety, fire safety, security and environmental risks. Building internal HSE competence and capability through the delivery of HSE support, training, audit and review. This individual will play a key role in ensuring Steris provides a safe work environment to all employees, visitors and Customers.
Duties
e proactive, efficient and professional HSE advice, coaching and support to the Tullamore based operational and functional teams.
with the Ireland HSE Manager to communicate and drive compliance with HSE standards to ensure a safe working environment.
e support to ensure that effective management of health, safety and environment is embedded at an operational level within the Tullamore facility.
, coach and support managers and employees at all levels to ensure they are aware of their HSE responsibilities.
the effective local implementation of the STERIS HSE strategy, standards, culture and systems.
t and manage local safety checks, observations and audits, ensuring that non-compliances are promptly reported, and corrective actions raised, tracked and completed.
in and manage local HSE action plans to ensure the appropriate prioritisation, review and completion of HSE actions.
t the completion and ongoing review of risk assessments, identifying and reporting on inadequately controlled risks
tate and administer the local HSE Committees, ensuring that accurate records are maintained and actions are effectively captured and added to the HSE action plans.
in appropriate HSE records and certifications including, but not limited to first aid, fire safety, safety observations, risk assessments, permits to work, HSE audits, occupational exposure monitoring and personal protective equipment (PPE).

t the implementation and delivery of HSE training and other engagement initiatives that improve employee awareness, competency and safety performance.
that all incidents, accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and conditions are appropriately reported, escalated and managed.
d to incidents and accidents, supporting appropriate investigations in accordance with the global HSE framework and ensuring appropriate actions are identified to prevent recurrences.
t the collection and analysis of safety performance data and HSE metrics, identifying and reporting areas of concern and appropriate actions.
with and support local control of major accident hazard (COMAH / SEVESO) activities and compliance.
in knowledge and awareness of local HSE legislation, best practice and emerging risks, reporting changes that may impact the business and support the development of effective response strategies.
other HSE colleagues and AST sites as required to build regional HSE team effectiveness and capability
t local environmental compliance to ensure the facility is fully compliant with relevant environmental requirements.
Education Degree
Vocational/TechnicalBachelor's Degree
Required Experience
1. Minimum 3-5 years experience in similar HSE position.
2. Experience within industrial, logistics, warehousing or processing environment preferred.
3. Experience of delivering effective HSE coaching and training achieving demonstrable learning outcomes.
4. Knowledge and experience of Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing preferred.
5. Effective communication skills; written and oral with ability to manage site-level relationships.
6. Pragmatic approach with ability to effectively balance technical and operational demands
7. Working knowledge of HSE regulations and management systems; an understanding of behavioural safety concepts
8. Confident with the use of IT systems and knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint and function specific software (. HSE management and e-learning platforms)
