This projects focused role will be responsible for delivering controls engineering projects, including delivering the automation aspects of new equipment/machines, extending the functionality of existing equipment and managing the controls obsolescence challenges within the plant.
The person will need to be proficient in programming Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI applications and have strong electrical and hardware knowledge. Additionally, experience with SQL Server, batch software and OEE systems would be a plus.
KEY DUTIES:
Project manage controls engineering centred projects, whilst ensuring robust design, validation and adherence to safety requirements.
Creating detailed and accurate documentation including functional software design specifications, electrical and network drawing, test documentation and user manuals.
Working with cross-functional teams to translate user requirement into a functional design.
Develop and input into technology roadmaps that expand controls capability while managing obsolescence and minimising spare parts requirements.
Apply operational excellence tools and techniques to continuously improve our processes and eliminate waste.
Supporting production
Support and implement Plant of the Future work stream initiatives.
Internally, the role is an integral part of the engineering team and communicates with multiple stakeholders, including the shift leaders, shift associates, other engineers, managers and project stakeholders
Attend/Co-ordinate frequent project update meetings delivering concise updates on project progress
Externally, the role works with vendors and consultants who are supporting various projects and systems
Articulation of technically advanced topics to non-technical team members at an appropriate level of detail
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience is essential in programming systems support preferably in a food or process environment.
Alen-Bradley Control Logix & SLC500 programming essential.
Knowledge of control networks essential.
Experience of Ignition, RSview or Intouch SCADA configuration.
Electrical & Instrumentation expertise.
Knowledge of recipe or batch software.
Experience SQL and Industrial Historians is an advantage.
Demonstrated experience of delivering projects in a highly automated environment.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A recognised Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
