AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking an Engineering/Design Manager to join the Rail team based in Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Galway office.

Our rail portfolio of work in Ireland is growing significantly, with committed multi-year contracts.
We are looking for an individual who is creative, organised, self-motivated, and collaborative with experience in delivering significant multi-disciplinary rail projects. The candidate would be a Chartered Engineer, with experience of all stages of the project life cycle. You will have the opportunity to lead projects of varying size and complexity. The Engineering/Design manager is a senior member of the Atkins Ireland Transportation team who will provide technical oversight of rail projects in Ireland, through directly working on projects or mentoring staff in project delivery roles. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the technical engineering rail strategy for the team in Ireland and assist with developing the right team structure for our clients and projects. You will be expected to provide strategic advice to our clients as they embark on significant investment programmes.
Key responsibilities/requirements:
1. Overall engineering and technical leadership of rail engineering projects in Ireland.
2. Acting as a Design or Engineering Manager on projects.
3. Managing the multi-disciplinary design process.
4. Ensuring design is defined and delivered in accordance with appropriate guidance, standards and client requirements.
5. Being the primary point of contact for all technical matters for rail in Ireland.
6. Line management of a team of engineers and discipline leads.
7. Developing technical/quality proposals for new commissions.
8. Implementing a robust quality management system.
9. Chartered with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional institution.
10. An ability to ensure safe-by-design is at the core of the design and delivery process.
11. Commitment to continuous improvement in own and team performance.
Desirable skills/attributes:
12. Educated to degree level (level 8/9 engineering degree).
13. Minimum 15 years of postgraduate experience, primarily in a consultancy environment.
14. Experience of delivering projects to BIM Level 2 equivalent.
15. An awareness of developing technologies and best practice in the industry.
16. Effective communicator (written, verbal & presentations).
17. Full driving licence.
