Project Worker, Youth Housing, Limerick
Location: Limerick
Contract: 1 Years Fixed-Term, Full-time
The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team to provide a flexible Aftercare, Supported housing service responding to the needs of young people in Limerick & Clare.
What you will do:
1. Work within the framework of the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland and use the model of care devised for the project.
2. Work as part of a team in delivering the service to the young people.
3. Draw up suitable care plans to prepare and support each resident for independent living
4. Support young people holistically, paying attention to their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills.
5. Play a part in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people leaving care
6. Advocate on behalf of residents for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.
7. Liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.
8. Provide individual support and keyworking to residents of the project
9. Assist in the facilitation of group work sessions for residents of the project.
10. To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative
11. Attend Team, Divisional and Agency meetings as required
12. Maintain accurate case records and statistics
13. Liaise with and inform the Project Leader, on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases
14. Engage in PIE and supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Manager.
15. Participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation
16. Implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer service.
17. Assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland
18. Work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.
19. In consultation, to undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Project Manager, Section Manager or Divisional Head.
What you will need:
20. Social Care or Equivalent Qualification at degree level.
21. Experience working in a social care setting at least 2 years.
22. Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.
23. Full clean driver’s license and access to own car.
24. Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
25. Good understanding of the issue affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.
26. Flexibility.
27. Understanding of Child Protection.
28. Experience of inter-agency working.
29. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
