Position Description ESB Aghada Power Station in Cork consists of a 450 MW Alstom single shaft combined cycle gas turbine and 3 x 90 MW Alstom dual fuel open cycle gas turbines. The Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Technician at Aghada Power Station will be an integral part of the maintenance team with responsibility for the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance and troubleshooting of the generating plant and equipment to help ensure that Aghada operates to strict efficiency, availability, environmental and commercial standards. The successful candidate will work with a wide variety of equipment and processes from pneumatic and hydraulic valves right of to and including large rotating equipment. Key Responsibilities Duties of the role includes but may not be limited to: Perform planned and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with site policies and procedures. All aspects of mechanical fitting work in a heavy mechanical work environment. Act as team leader in a 'hands on' capacity as required. Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS. Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions. Preparation and review of task specific Method statements and Risk Assessments. Be a mentor for Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting Apprentices. Carry out authorized roles under the safety rules as required (Safe Systems of Work). Liaise with and supervise vendors and contractors. Any other duties as required which may be assigned to you, from time to time, by your line manager. The successful candidate will be required on occasions to have flexible working hours including weekend and night working and be available for callouts. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience The successful candidate will be self-motivated and required to work as part of a close team in a Generating Station environment, interacting effectively with other station staff and contractors as necessary. Essential Experience and technical knowledge of power station maintenance or mechanical maintenance practices in similar heavy process industry. Ability to read and understand P&IDs and follow maintenance procedures. Strong safety culture and ability to work in a team environment. Full B driving licence. Good IT skills. Applicants must be proficient in the use of computer systems. Experience in machining, fitting, welding, and other workshop equipment. Desirable 2-5 years Thermal, Hydro, or renewable generation plant maintenance or equivalent. Experience and Certification in the use of lifting / slinging equipment and manual handling. Knowledge of LOTO and permitting systems. Experience in Maintenance, Environmental and Safety Management systems. Plant technical services experience or equivalent. Staff and / or Contractor supervision experience or equivalent. Qualifications Essential A Mechanical craft qualification or equivalent. Location Aghada Generation Station, Co Cork.
