Our client is a large construction company that works on commercial, retail, leisure, industrial, healthcare & data centres projects in Ireland & the UK. They have seen massive growth in the last few years and are continually striving to grow their business by recruiting top professionals. They are now seeking to recruit an experienced estimator that has experience working within the building industry in Ireland. Ideally, you will have experience of estimating both private and public projects and have experience on a variety of projects.
As Estimator your responsibilities will include:
Generate best-price tender submissions that will successfully win contracts in a competitive budgeting situation.
1. Produce estimates by gathering proposals, quotes, specifications and related documents.
2. Identify opportunities and deficits in the tender documents that provide commercial leverage.
3. Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; compute costs and maintain a fit-for-purpose cost database.
4. Analyse, evaluate and perform risk analysis on supplier and subcontract packages.
5. Work with the QS function in pre-contract negotiations.
6. Liaise with the Chief Estimator and senior management on contractual concerns and ensure that all necessary notices and submissions are met in a timely manner.
7. Engage with the commercial/project team to agree budgets prior to the pre-start handover meeting.
8. Manage and control preliminary budgets for the tender process.
9. Ensure client relationships are maintained throughout commercial negotiations.
10. Compile and maintain cost data reports.

The Candidate
13. 1+ years relevant experience
14. Third level qualification in engineering, construction, quantity surveying or related field
15. Good knowledge of construction outputs, and of labour, plant and material prices.
16. Financially numerate with strong commercial knowledge.
17. Good understanding of data analysis methods.
18. Ability to work as part of a team
19. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
20. Ability to manage tender documentation and punctual with reports.
21. Methodical, analytical mindset with good attention to detail
22. Must be able to work to tight deadlines.
