The Job Details are as follows:
The Proposals Manager oversees the RFP process, including writing, editing, and producing proposals for OCLC’s solutions, and manages 75-100 annual responses with a total annual value of $30+ million. This role requires understanding the OCLC sales process, product functionality, and competitive positioning, while meeting stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
1. The Proposals Manager manages OCLC’s responses to assigned Requests for Proposals for libraries in the Americas, with emphasis on public libraries. This includes writing, editing and producing proposals outlining OCLC’s solutions in response to Requests for Proposal, Information, Quotation from OCLC’s prospective libraries, with an emphasis on those bids that are legally binding for OCLC.
2. Serves as project manager for an estimated 50-60 responses annually with a total worth ranging up to $15 million annually.
3. Manages all the functions and the ad hoc teams related to RFP response development for assigned projects, including creating the actual proposal responses in the proper format (as requested by the library, using OCLC brand standards). Leads strategy meetings for assigned proposals and facilitates input from team members.
4. Controls the preparation, collection, integration, and assembly of all proposal documents, including all text, charts, graphics, etc. used in the proposal. Responsible for the publication, distribution, and shipping of proposal responses.
5. Manages the development of pricing for all RFPs in the Americas to all types of libraries, a total of 75-100 annually with a total value of $30+ million.
6. Provides recommendations on proposal strategy, including bid/no bid decisions, to senior management.
Qualifications:
7. Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Journalism, English or Business Strategy.
8. Over five years of proposal management experience
9. Experienced in technical and marketing/business writing.
10. Five years of project management experience and skills are required.
11. 2+ years of experience developing price quotes for complex technical solutions.
12. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and capable of performing well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
13. Excellent interpersonal skills, as the position requires a great deal of interaction with staff and management at all levels.
14. Strong communication skills; in particular experience with written and graphic media.
15. Significant experience with MS Office applications, including word processing, database and spreadsheet software and the ability to type are required.
16. Skilled in making/accepting edits with team members in a shared document environment
17. Adept at using virtual meeting software (e.g., MS Teams) to conduct project discussions
18. Experience within the library industry is a plus.
