What is the Role? We are looking for an experienced Environmental Sustainability Consultant to join our team in Speco Sustainability Consultancy, Galway. This position involves managing projects of various scales and types in the areas of CSRD, ESG and carbon accounting. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, assist clients in navigating complex regulatory requirements, ensure compliance with environmental legislation, and contribute to sustainable development across Ireland. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about environmental sustainability and has a proven capability to effectively assist clients to meet their environmental and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in CSRD, ESG and/or carbon accounting. The position involves on-site client visits, hybrid working, and significant client engagement. What are the Key Responsibilities? Prepare sustainability reports, calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and help clients meet ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. Ensure compliance with environmental and energy regulations, and assist in achieving and maintaining sustainability certifications. Support clients in achieving their environmental and energy objectives through continuous improvement initiatives. Travel to client sites to conduct audits, assessments, and provide on-site sustainability and energy management solutions. Collaborate with clients through hybrid work arrangements, ensuring ongoing support and project follow-up. Take ownership of projects from inception to completion and provide regular project updates to the Managing Director and clients; Prioritise projects while balancing client expectations and project deadlines; Preparing and overseeing the preparation of fee proposals, identifying opportunities in the marketplace and ensuring a steady work flow. What education and experience are required? 5+ years relevant experience preferred. A third level qualification (Degree/Masters) in Environmental Science, Energy Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field or related discipline. Proven experience in energy management, sustainability assessments, and renewable energy systems. Experience with ESG reporting (EcoVadis and SBTi), sustainability metrics, and energy performance monitoring. Experience working in the Irish and EU environmental and planning legislative contexts. What key skills will make you great at the role? Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ESG) and CSRD. Excellent communication skills. Ability to build a strong rapport with our clients, peers and authorities on-site and on the phone. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail.
