Highways Engineer
We currently have a requirement for an Engineer / Designer with experience in the design of roads and streets projects to join our Roads team in Ireland. The successful candidate will work within the Transport Infrastructure team delivering a range of rural and urban design projects including major TII road projects, Minor TII road improvement projects, as well as urban street design incorporating Public Transport and Active Travel and Greenway projects.
The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience within an established consultancy with flexible working options between home and office. They will be involved in a diverse and challenging range of projects for high profile clients within Ireland and further afield. This role also offers the successful candidate long-term opportunities for career development.
Your responsibilities
The role involves supporting project teams on a variety of road and civil design projects, with the preparation and coordination of geometric design models using Open Roads Designer (ORD) or Civil 3d a core skill.The role also includes design and coordinating with other multi-disciplinary contributors to projects. You will be required to deliver projects to the required technical standards in a timely manner, reporting to the team leader or project manager as appropriate.
1. Preparing 3d geometric design models using ORD, Civil 3d or equivalent.
2. Preparing technical designs for projects, including geometric alignment and drainage, drawings, reports, correspondence and other outputs in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
3. Ensuring that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
4. Implementing the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
5. Communicating effectively and in a team environment with colleagues and project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors.

Your Education/Profile
15. Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
16. 5-7 years post graduate experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
17. Chartered or working towards chartered professional status.
18. Geometric Design experience on major projects (Open Roads Designer, Civil 3D or equivalent).
19. Drainage Design (Micro drainage or similar).
20. Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
21. Ability to effectively manage your time and deliver projects in a timely manner.
