We are looking for a passionate Fleet & Garage Manager to help us achieve our mission by keeping the fleet in top shape and the operations running smoothly.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Fleet & Garage Manager to manage the fleet’s efficiency, safety, and compliance. This pivotal role involves overseeing vehicle maintenance, streamlining garage operations, and ensuring that all vehicles meet high operational standards. Your expertise will support the clients logistical needs and help drive their sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead fleet maintenance and vehicle specification to meet operational, and environmental standards.
* Manage internal and external service resources to ensure cost-effective maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.
* Optimize vehicle availability with continuous improvement strategies for superior performance.
* Oversee financial and operational performance, ensuring profitability, high customer service standards, and asset efficiency.
* Use the fleet management system to track job cards, purchase orders, and resolve driver-reported issues.
* Ensure adequate staffing, training, and induction for mechanics and third-party contractors.
* Maintain stock levels in the garage through a robust spare parts management system.
* Enforce high housekeeping standards and conduct risk assessments on all maintenance activities.
* Actively manage KPIs, budget setting, and operational efficiency.
* Perform regular vehicle spot checks for roadworthiness and legal compliance.
* Embed health, safety, and compliance across all maintenance activities, ensuring legislative requirements are met.
Requirements
* Relevant technical qualifications are essential.
* Proven experience managing fleet and/or garage operations.
* Strong understanding of environmental and Health & Safety legislation.
* Knowledge of workshop procedures, CVRT, LOLER, and 13-week inspection protocols.
* Experience in a multi-shift, labor-intensive environment.
