General Manager for castle property, accommodation available Wonderful opportunity for an established General Managerto lead the team at this privately owned and operated luxury castle property in Irelands Hidden Heartlands. The role holds full responsibility for all operational management, financial performance and sales & marketing activity. This is a pivotal time to join as the property recently benefited from a significant renovation and has also just received a planning consent for an impressive extension to include a luxury Spa, Leisure Centre and additional accommodation, with works due to commence imminently. Key responsibilities: Operations: Oversee all operational departments in the execution of their duties to maximise operational efficiency. Ensure full compliance with the hotel operating controls, SOPs, policies, procedures and service standards. Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment. Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints. Ensure that the hotel is maintained to a high standard from cleanliness to the setting of lights / maintenance of in-house fragrance machines, with daily checks on same. There must be a focus on attention to detail, driving same home with the management team. Keep a watching brief on food presentation to ensure same is to the standards befitting the hotel. Financials & Sales: Keep a watching brief on sales, particularly weddings and function, number of covers, room night numbers in terms of both occupancy and rate. Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotels annual Budget, Sales & Marketing Plan and Capital Budget. Manage the ongoing profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded. Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the property. Ensure that monthly financial forecasts for rooms, food & beverage are on target and accurate. Co-ordination of the Daily, Weekly Revenue and Yield meetings to include all revenue streams. Prepare a monthly financial report for the owners and stakeholders. Team management: Provide effective leadership to hotel team members. Keep a daily watching brief on staff uniforms to ensure same are clean and presentable and that staff are attired correctly. Strong focus on attention to detail to be driven home with the management team and staff. Coordination with HODs for the execution of all activities and functions. Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads daily. Maintain appropriate standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, uniforms, appearance and posture of all employees. Ensure that each member of staff is trained to competently complete their duties and to fulfil departmental standards and guests' expectations. The ideal candidate: Minimum of three years experience as General Manager of a luxury four star property in Ireland. Third level qualification in Hospitality Management. Proven experience and knowledge of all hotel operations: Rooms, F&B, Finance, Sales and Human Resources. Strong knowledge of hotel finances, rooms budgeting and yield management required with a strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to take appropriate actions. Good numeric, literacy and computer skills, including Microsoft Word & Excel, with a knowledge of the hotel management software. Previous experience in successfully managing property refurbishments an advantage. Impeccable standards of service. Proven leader, able to drive and motivate the team to their best performance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for dealing with and building personable relationships with colleagues and guests.
