About the role:
Smyths Toys are seeking a Buyer to join our team. To be successful in this position, you’ll be a self-starter, capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas, and show amazing attention to detail.
Our headquarters in Galway has over 200 employees, with additional offices in Lille and Cologne. We operate over 280 physical retail stores in Ireland, the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, together with a substantial online business in each country.
Location: This role is located at our Head Office in Galway.
Salary: €40,000+ depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. You will oversee the financial performance of your category, including sales, margin, and stock holding and have responsibility for the complete product life cycle, which includes but is not limited to; product sourcing and selection, supplier negotiation & management, and forecasting.
2. Analysing sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
3. Explore root causes of problems using existing processes and knowledge before taking action.
4. Monitor stock levels of your product category online and instore through planning, forecasting and replenishment
5. You will collaborate with Marketing to develop promotional campaigns and initiatives tailored to your product category.
6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to support Smyths business objectives.
7. Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, finance, stores and logistics to align strategies and drive overall business success.
The ideal candidate will have:
8. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
9. Strong organisational and administrative skills – attention to detail is crucial.
10. Ability to think strategically.
11. Proficient in full Microsoft Office package – especially Excel..
12. Ability to multitask and work well to meet deadlines.
13. Ability to trade in a business that is reacting quickly to market pressures to maximise rewards while minimising risk.
14. SAP experience is an advantage.
