About the role:
The Project Technical Lead will be a key member of the PMO team who oversees and manages the team responsible for the various technical aspects of the ERP Project Flogas is currently investing in. The role holder will have responsibility for ensuring data migration, business intelligence (BI) development, infrastructure, interfaces, and market interaction technologies are fit for purpose. The role holder is required to have a background in project management and technical leadership with a sound understanding of data management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
* Report to the Project Director, collaborating with the PMO team to support overall project delivery.
* Oversee technical delivery for the programme, including infrastructure, data migration, BI, interfaces, and other technical streams as they arise.
* Define team roles, responsibilities, and clear deliverables while setting realistic project goals and objectives.
* Establish and manage processes and strategies for teams, conducting regular performance reviews to ensure alignment and high standards.
* Develop detailed technical project plans, including schedules, milestones, deliverables, and assumptions.
* Coordinate with IT workstream leads to schedule resources, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
* Monitor progress of technical workstreams, providing regular status reports, tracking actuals against planned progress.
* Maintain a RAID log for all technical workstreams, managing risks and issues as part of overall PMO oversight.
* Escalate critical risks and issues to senior leadership and develop mitigation strategies.
* Provide continuous updates to the PMO team to ensure alignment with the overall project delivery approach.
* Ensure all technical delivery aligns with business requirements and risk considerations, maintaining transparency on scope, status, and resource assignments.
* Ensure compliance with Project Change Management and Quality Assurance standards.
* Collaborate with the test lead during relevant project phases, ensuring smooth coordination with the defect and test cycle for quick issue resolution
Technical capabilities:
* Strong technical background to understand and communicate effectively with experts, though not expected to be an expert in all areas.
* Solid knowledge of architecture and infrastructure to manage technical streams within the broader tech stack.
* Define workstream objectives/timelines, track progress, and manage critical project milestones.
* Offer feedback for process improvements to deliver optimal business solutions.
* Collaborate with the PMO to oversee, track, and manage technical delivery, maintaining ongoing communication.
* Work closely with technical teams to design and implement data migration strategies, BI solutions, infrastructure enhancements, and interface integrations.
* Ensure data migration scope is clear, roles are well-defined, and responsibilities are managed effectively.
* Oversee all data migration from legacy to new ERP platforms, ensuring appropriate methodologies are applied.
* Liaise with software vendors to manage technical engagement, communicate risks/issues, and ensure adequate support.
* Familiarity with MS Dynamics architecture is a significant advantage.
* Ability to gain deep knowledge of ERP technology and manage between teams and vendors.
* Though primarily managerial, the role may require hands-on involvement in delivery during key project phases.
Communication & Leadership:
* Lead weekly work track meetings to gather updates, provide project status, and plan for upcoming deliverables.
* Host and participate in daily stand-ups, weekly PMO meetings, and monthly project review meetings with the project team and stakeholders.
* Attend and contribute to PMO meetings with the software vendor, including RAID sessions and project progress reviews.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree in IT Project Management, with PRINCE2 certification and at least 5 years of experience in managing complex IT projects. They are well-versed in technology stacks, particularly Microsoft Dynamics, data warehousing, BI dashboard development, and data engineering. The candidate has a proven track record in managing technical projects such as data migration, BI development, and infrastructure, while handling multiple workstreams and leading teams.
They possess excellent leadership, organisational, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Known for their decisiveness, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities, they are adept at delivering ERP projects throughout the full lifecycle and thrive in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines.
