Dublin Software Park DAC (Dublin City University) Energy Systems Technician Fixed Term Five Year Contract Dublin Software Park DAC, in conjunction with DCU Estates Office, is responsible for the management of Dublin City Universitys physical assets, the provision of services in a multi-campus environment, and the conservation and decarbonization of our energy systems. To help deliver our 2030 targets, there is a requirement for an Energy Systems Technician to supplement the existing Estates Office Energy Team and assist in the operation of the university Building and Energy Management Systems, to ensure continual energy performance improvement. Reporting to the Building & Automation Manager, the role will focus on the identification of energy improvements and efficiencies, and the implementation of control measures to drive energy consumption down, improve energy performance and reduce energy related carbon emissions, across all buildings and campuses. Training on all estates office energy and control systems will be provided to the successful candidate, and of which continual personal development in the energy field will be paramount. The post holder will also play a key role in supporting the Estates Office Energy Team maintain our cross-campus ISO 50001 certification. Duties and Responsibilities Operation of the DCU Building Management System (BMS) Operation of the DCU Energy Monitoring and Targeting System (EMS) Input to new and existing building energy improvement measures, in terms of BMS/EMS control equipment specification, installation, programming, metering, testing, commissioning, monitoring, targeting, measurement and verification. Assist in overseeing the controls element of Buildings Electrical, Gas and Water Infrastructure and Systems, Assist in Management, Commissioning and Handover of Capital Development and Refurbishment Projects, Assist the Operations, Space and Projects Teams with final Control Installations and Commissioning, Assist with Energy Audits, Provide Technical Assistance, in response, and resolution, to routine Estates Office works requests, Promote and implement Energy Efficiency and Water Conservation plans and initiatives across all facilities, Identify opportunities for Project and Energy Saving initiatives, This is not a full and final list of duties as you may be asked to take on additional tasks by management from time to time. Requirements Electrical Craft Qualification, 5+ years post qualification experience, working in a similar role and environment, (preferable), Experience within HVAC and Building Controls Industry, Experience of working in large Commercial Facilities and/or a University Campus Environment, (desirable), Basic knowledge and understanding of IT Networking, Good verbal and communication skills, and the ability to interact well as part of a team.
