The primary function of this role is to assist the maintenance technicians in the execution of their duties. The role is critical in enabling the maximum benefit to be gained from maintenance activity. Maintenance Assistants undertake basic maintenance activities such as machine cleaning and lubrication. The Maintenance Assistants also support the Maintenance Technicians in the execution of maintenance and repair work carried out in the factory. The shift pattern will follow a 4 on/4 Off model covering the site 7 days per week. The shifts are currently 6.00 am to 6.30 pm Sunday through Saturday.

Responsibilities:
General:
Routine cleaning and lubrication of Plant and Equipment to ensure optimum plant performance.
Assisting the Maintenance Technicians in the execution of Planned Maintenance requirements.
Ensure that tasks given to you are completed in a timely and safe manner.
Compliance with permit to work system.
Involvement in continuous improvement activity to improve plant reliability and operational efficiency.
Ensure Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company specific, are fully respected and taken account of.
Data Reporting:
Maintain accurate records to enable downtime analysis to be carried out.
Generate records of maintenance activities completed.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, food safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Collaborate with the safety team to implement safe work practices.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures.
Propose process improvements to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
Implement best practices for maintenance planning and execution.

The job requires presence on the factory floor. The job will at times require working in confined spaces and on machines with safety guards removed.
Physical requirements
The work in some areas can be physically demanding & it will be necessary to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects & carry out manual work. Manual handling techniques are of vast importance.
