Our client,
a state agency, is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their Capital & Estates Department in the Midlands Area.
This position is initially a 1-year contract with potential for extension and future permanency.
The role involves delivering a range of professional, technical, project management, property, energy, sustainability, fire, safety, and related services for the procurement, development, operation, and maintenance of the client’s physical infrastructure, including lands, buildings, plant, and equipment.
Responsibilities include:
1. Planning and supervising major and minor capital works across the designated area.
2. Managing specific projects within the program, both minor and major.
3. Developing maintenance plans for buildings, services, and equipment in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
4. Ensuring buildings, services, and equipment meet safety and maintenance standards as per approved programs.
5. Collaborating with the Property Manager to maintain property protocols and manage property-related tasks, such as assessing the organization’s property portfolio and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
6. Coordinating fire prevention measures with the Fire & Safety Officer.
7. Providing guidance on energy efficiency and working with service personnel and advisors to ensure efficient energy use in organizational facilities.
8. Offering expertise on facilities and environmental concerns alongside service personnel, Capital & Estates personnel, and advisors.
Requirements include:
9. Holding a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland major academic award in Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying accredited by the relevant Professional Institute, or
10. Membership in the relevant professional association:Society of Chartered Surveyors in IrelandRoyal Institution of Chartered SurveyorsEngineers IrelandRoyal Institute of Architects of Ireland
11. At least five years of experience in planning, design, project management, or construction of buildings or in the installation or maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and heating services of such buildings.
Knowledge & Experience:
12. Extensive expertise and experience in building construction and services, along with an understanding of maintenance requirements.
13. Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and familiarity with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards.
14. Leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
15. Effective communication skills, including the ability to facilitate and train team members.
