The Job Details are as follows:
This position is responsible for the strategic marketing activities to promote and sell software and content (ebooks, audio books, and streaming services) to the public library market. This role partners with product management and sales in the development of customer retention strategies while developing and executing marketing programs increase new sales and grow market share. Key areas supported include cloudLibrary, a recent addition to the OCLC public library offering.
The successful candidate will balance strategic marketing skills with an understanding of the importance of sales enablement and customer satisfaction. The candidate will have strong experience marketing technology and digital content, including strategic planning and tactical execution across traditional and digital marketing channels.
Excellent written, spoken and visual communication skills are critical, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities of software and services into compelling positioning and messaging. The candidate will be a strong writer, with the ability to develop compelling content to market through multiple channels. The person will become an expert in the products, competition, market trends, buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria. They will leverage this understanding to support every step of the customer’s journey and transfer that knowledge to the sales team. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrable experience and best practices from working in a fast-paced, fluid, team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market intelligence: Be an expert on library buyers of software and content, how they buy and their buying criteria.
2. Marketing strategy: Work with product management and sales to develop marketing strategies and plans for services and content for public libraries. Manage the resourcing and tactical implementation of those plans.
3. Positioning and messaging: Understand competition and relevant trends. Apply that understanding in the development of positioning that differentiates OCLC in the marketplace.
4. Copywriting: Write copy for a variety of marketing materials and channels.
5. Customer engagement: Support the rollout of product enhancements and new content; manage the cross-functional implementation of those enhancements.
6. Sales enablement: Communicate the value proposition of products to sales teams and develop sales tools that support the selling of services to the public library community.
7. Metrics and measurement: Develop KPIs and implement metrics to measure impact and success of marketing plans.
Qualifications:
8. 7+ years of marketing experience with at least 3 years’ experience in a product marketing role. Experience marketing to public libraries or marketing for publishers is a plus.
9. Prior experience in marketing in the fields of software development and content, particularly ebooks, audio books, and/or streaming services.
10. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are vital.
11. Excellent people skills to interact with cross-functional teams, and third parties.
12. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus.
