Position Summary:
Permanent role based at the Portlaoise Depot working with the technician team to provide maintenance and repairs to the powerpacks of the Class 22000 DMU fleet.
Please note the depot working a continental shift pattern on days and nights.
Responsibilities:
Provision of service support on all aspects of mechanical and electrical systems on the MTU1800 Power Units. Working to a workload plan that includes both day and night working and a planned rotation basis. Ability to work to a prescribed detail and on safety critical systems. Perform high level testing and provide fault finding support during vehicle and system maintenance. Compile associated documentation and test reports. To be active involvement in all aspect of QPS (Lean). Health and safety compliance. To ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner. To adhere to written or verbal instructions.
Background & Experience:
1. Working knowledge of Heavy Duty Diesel Engines
2. Ability to fault find and utilize modern diagnostic tools
Qualifications/Education required:
3. Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
4. Previous experience in rail or plant industry
