Lead Mechanical Engineer – 12-Month Contract
Location: Co. Donegal
Start Date: January 2025
Take the lead on a high-impact project at one of Ireland’s most iconic hydroelectric stations. Oversee the full disassembly, repair, and reassembly of Erne Unit 4, ensuring its safe return to service. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage safety, quality, and contractors on-site.
• Oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems
.
• Management of main EPC Mechanical Contract and other mechanical contracts
• Develop technical specifications and manage plant modifications.
• Report on progress, costs, and outcomes to the Project Manager.
What You Bring
• 5+ years’ experience in power generation, including overhauls.
• Expertise in mechanical plant systems (pumps, motors, valves).
• Strong knowledge of safety and environmental standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable: Hydro power experience and Level 8 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
10/12 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Weekend and additional hours will apply when required.
The successful candidate must have use of a personal ‘phone, laptop/PC and internet facilities, and must be equipped to fully engage in a professional manner during the course of the engagement.
