Senior Mechanical Estimator - Engineering Contractor - Dublin

You will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates ensuring timely submission of tenders.
You will report directly to the Estimating Manager.
Conduct in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc.
Manage quantity take-offs and populate pricing documents
Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors.
Interrogate and validate incoming quotations from sub-contractors in order to ensure they are specification compliant and cover all aspects of the package scope of works, ensuring no scope gaps prior to inclusion in bid.
Present the completed estimate to the Pre-Construction Director, and to the Board of Directors.
Tender document control including drawing analysis and specifications for inclusion in BOQ’s.
Mentor and train junior members of the mechanical estimation team.
Co-ordinate and collaborate with the Electrical Estimators
Participate in the development of procedures to ensure a high standard of quality control in the documents produced by the Estimating Department
Poses the ability to manage and complete a large-scale complex tender autonomously from start to finish.
Identify risks and potential tender opportunities and highlight these to estimating manager
Ensure level of detail in the estimates and whether potential risks and contingencies are adequately accounted for.
Effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members.
Manage estimating manpower in order to ensure efficient use of manpower and lead junior estimators in the successful completion of their individual tasks
Identify and cost potential value engineering opportunities.
Requirements
Previous mechanical cost estimating experience in a contracting environment with experience of delivering tenders from enquiry to award stage is essential
Strong computer skills especially in the use of MS Office
Strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing and other mechanical building services systems
Good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials
Strong attention to detail
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, preform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs
Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical and organisational skills
Problem solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities
