Job Opportunity: Project Manager – Safety Engineer

Salary: Up to €74,100 per year

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Safety Engineer to oversee and coordinate industrial projects focused on the safety and compliance of machinery at our manufacturing facility in Athy. This is a hands-on role where you will manage the design, installation, and upgrades of machinery safety systems to meet EU regulations, working closely with factory staff, contractors, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage industrial safety projects from conceptual design through to execution and start-up.
* Oversee the installation of machine safeguarding, including gate access systems and lockout/tag-out protocols.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with EU safety standards for machinery.
* Collaborate with factory staff to define requirements and ensure accessibility for operations teams.
* Use CAD tools to create technical drawings and upgrades for safety installations.
* Work closely with suppliers and contractors, preparing specifications, analyzing proposals, and participating in supplier selection.
* Report on project status, costs, and schedules, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
* Promote a strong focus on EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) throughout all phases of the project.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* A strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in machinery safeguarding.
* Familiarity with lockout/tag-out systems and other safety mechanisms.
* Knowledge of engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, automation).
* Experience managing machinery safety-related projects, including upgrades or revamping.
* Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and basic CAD skills (e.g., AutoCAD).
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively with factory staff and contractors.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented approach.
* Fluency in English (Dutch is a plus).
Desirable Qualifications:
* Certification in Functional Safety (e.g., CMSE® or equivalent).
* Experience in industrial safety projects and technical-cost optimization.
