We are looking for a Business Controller to join BAM UK & Ireland as part of the Finance team.
This role is based in Kildare with hybrid working options.
Your mission
Strategy and Analysis
* Strategic Agenda Process - Contribute to the BAM Group vision and plan, translate this into a vision and plan for Finance.
* Portfolio Analysis – Aggregate data on BAM portfolio, transforming information into portfolio optimisation ideas and driving the need for fact-based decision making in policy setting.
* M&A and Divestments - Support the BAM group with making M&A and divestments decisions in the 'pre-deal' and 'post-deal' phases, providing considerations on funding acquisitions with debt & equity.
* Business Management & Support - Develop the capabilities, tools, techniques and models to enable finance to influence and drive better decision making in the organization.
* Management Reporting - Rationalise and improve the production of management reporting and analysis across processes, commercial policy, people and technology.
* CAPEX Investments
Budgeting and Forecasting
* OP (Operating Plan) process - Set Business Unit Operational Plan financial targets, in line with the Segment / Division strategic plans to enable the achievement of organisational performance goals and establish the OP planning cycle
* Periodic Forecast Process - Drive the Business Unit Periodic Forecast process, which is predicting the (financial) performance of the organisation against the (financial) targets and report on the achievement of organizational performance goals.
Control and Reporting
* Management Reporting - Develop and report Business Unit Management Information to the organisation
* Statutory Accountability - Develop and implement the foundational elements of Statutory Reporting where key controls and sign-off procedures are monitored as an integrated part of the reporting cycle, including formalised procedures for disclosure reporting and review of reports.
* Project Control and Reporting
Project Control and Reporting
* Project Control - Determine the critical success factors, opportunities, risks and performance indicators linked with project lifecycle stages.
* Project Reporting - Develop standard reporting suite of Project financial information to be used across the Business Unit.
* Tender Stage Gate Procedure (TSGP) - Assess the strategic goals regarding business development, pipeline quality and risk-return of tenders in the Tender Stage Gate Procedure.
* Position Paper Projects – Share Business Unit Position papers with the auditor, helping them understand the position taken on the Projects in line with accounting standards i.e. IFRS15.
People Management & Development
* Managing and monitoring team engagement and performance to motivate and maximise service effectiveness and efficiency, creating an environment that embraces a culture of learning, growth and development through performance, inclusion, safety, and well-being.
* Responsibility for line management of a team, ensuring P&D conversations and discussions are undertaken throughout the year
Who are we looking for?
The following are mandatory requirements:
• Be a qualified accountant and member of an accountancy body (ACMA, ACCA, ACA).
• Experience of Microsoft packages with advanced knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Word and PowerPoint.
• High level of IT systems awareness, to be able to operate SAP, Stage Gate, and all bespoke reporting applications or similar
The following are desirable requirements:
• Experience of providing financial support to operational managers in a project environment (Business Partnering) preferably in Construction/Engineering with proven track record in previous role(s)
• Experience of leading and contributing to Business Unit Strategy, medium to long term planning
• Experience of Finance Leadership and Relationships
• Experience of team management
• Experience of change management / sponsorship
• Experience of financial risk management
• Experience of applying financial governance
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Effective communication skills – able to deliver persuasive arguments
• Analytical, proactive, highly motivated and enthusiastic with good attention to detail
