Job Description
Our After Sales & Service team in our UK division is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Field Service Representative - Controls Engineering who enjoys team work and on-going challenging projects.
The Field Service Representative (Controls) will be responsible for design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation of complete control programs for custom automation equipment. Programming of control systems using PLC’s, PC’s, servo drives, robots, and other more specialized controllers is a requirement. Skilled in troubleshooting of electrical controls and mechanical mechanisms. Need for good organization skills as wells as self-discipline, working well with minimal supervision.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Develop and program software (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer requirements.
2. Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status.
3. Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions and inaccurate actions by customer staff.
4. Required to work independently or as part of a team.
5. Ensure alignment of customer objectives with on-site work plan.
6. Support developing operating and troubleshooting knowledge of the operations team.
7. Review/suggest additional tools or equipment necessary to better operate or maintain customer equipment.
8. Make recommendations to repair/replace only items that require repair/replacement.
9. Travel to both domestic and international customer locations for long and short-term support.
10. Lead on-site team and liase with customer and ATS Project Manager.
11. Coordinate third party vendors and assist to resolve technical issues as required.
12. Complete detailed Service Report for the services provided on a daily/weekly basis. Ensure customer issues have been resolved through follow-up communication and project/case closure if required.
13. Be available to be on call on a rotational basis.
14. Communicate with internal and external customers to understand needs and support resources and solutions accordingly.
15. Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer.
16. Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

19. Ability to work effectively in fast paced multitasking environment with plant engineers, external vendors, operators and management to manage project and assignment

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
A post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent. Database/Robot/Vision experience is an asset.
Experience:
A minimum of four years of experience in a hands-on automation/controls environment. 3+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
Must be willing to travel to customer sites. Travel time will range from 50 to 75% per month.
The successful candidate is a good communicator, displays professionalism and has well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of customer and ATS management in a multi-disciplined engineering environment under pressure. An excellent understanding of pneumatic, electrical and multiple controls systems, along with the ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides is essential. Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Individual must have the ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems.
