Our client, a Public Sector body based in Kildare, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team reporting to a Financial Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintain financial accounting systems and records
* Prepare monthly Accounts and Annual Financial Statements
* Plan for year-end cut off procedures, workload, etc.
* Explain variations from budget
* Deal with queries on annual accounts raised by auditors
* Deal with Internal Auditors
* Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial and other returns for Funding organisations
* Maintain and reconcile on a monthly basis all balance sheet accounts
* Prepare and submit tax returns, etc.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
* Assist the Financial Controller with day to day running and supervision of Finance department
* Supervision of the accounts payable and receivable areas
* Budgeting/Costing: Liaise with Financial Controller in the areas of budgeting and costing; assist Financial Controller with preparation of annual budgets
* Ad hoc Non Regular Duties: Assist Financial Controller with development of financial systems
* Capital grant claims
* Costing, ad hoc queries
* Assist Financial Controller with the management of upgrades of financial systems
Qualifications, Experience and Person Specification:
* Each candidate must be a qualified Accountant (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA).
* Candidates must ideally:
o Have excellent computer and keyboard skills
o Have excellent interpersonal skills and proven written and verbal communication abilities
o Have proven organisational and administrative skills
o Have the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail
o Be able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions
o Be of good character
The working week is 35 hours with 30 days annual leave. This role is initially a contract with a view to permanency.
