Position Overview
The project manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of high-quality eLearning materials, at a rapid pace, while adhering to best practices and industry standards. They will play a key role in building on existing processes, identifying opportunities for efficiencies, and managing our team of talented content developers.
The project manager will also be responsible for building, maintaining, and managing our outsourced relationships with content creators. This will ensure a diverse library of rich, comprehensive, and high-quality content to meet the needs of our clients.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the project lifecycle for eLearning development projects, from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
2. Work closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
3. Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets.
4. Track project progress and identify and mitigate risks.
5. Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure eLearning materials meet our high standards.
6. Identify opportunities for improving eLearning development processes and implement best practices.
7. Build and manage relationships with outsourced content creators, ensuring clear communication, high-quality work, and adherence to deadlines.
8. Manage and track content creation budgets for outsourced projects.
Required Skills
1. Project Management:
Proven experience in managing the full project lifecycle for eLearning development projects, from needs assessment to launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client specifications. Experience in developing and maintaining project plans, timelines, and budgets. Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana). Ability to track project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and manage resources effectively. Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing competing demands.
2. eLearning Development:
Proven experience in eLearning development processes, including instructional design, content creation, development tools, and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Understanding of adult learning principles and best practices for creating engaging and effective eLearning experiences. Familiarity with accessibility standards for eLearning content (e.g., WCAG).
3. Vendor Management:
Experience in building and managing relationships with outsourced content creators (e.g., freelance instructional designers, graphic designers). Ability to clearly communicate project requirements and expectations to external vendors. Experience in managing vendor contracts and budgets.
4. Communication & Collaboration:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including subject matter experts, instructional designers, developers, and clients. Skilled in active listening, providing clear and concise instructions, and effectively resolving conflicts.
5. Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with eLearning authoring tools (a plus). Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Desired Skills
1. Experience with Learning Experience Design (LXD) principles.
2. Experience with project management software for creative teams (e.g., Jira Work Management, Trello, Asana).
