About the Role
Reporting to the Head of GL Accounting, this role is responsible for supporting the General Ledger function by performing various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This is a crucial role in maintaining financial records, helping prepare financial statements, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our finance operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on maintaining robust internal control processes.
Key Responsibilities
* General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
* Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other transactions, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
* Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all relevant accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Month-end Close: Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and helping preparation of financial statements.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare various financial reports and analysis as required, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
* Intercompany Accounting: Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with other departments/entities.
* Fixed Assets Management: Record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals, calculate and post depreciation/amortization, and perform periodic reconciliations.
* Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audit activities by providing supporting documentation, explanations, and resolving audit queries.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
* Ad-hoc Tasks: Undertake ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Head of Accounting or Financial Controller.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
* Experience in general ledger accounting or similar role, preferably in a Shared Service Centre or multinational environment.
* Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS.
* Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and perform variance analysis.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
