Outline of the role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will carry responsibility for administration of the contract, risk management and negotiations to effectively deliver the agreed profitability and cash projections, including all upwardly and down chain reporting.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:
* Managing the commercial team and wider project team to successfully deliver the works
* Communicate, negotiate and procure sub-contractors & supply chain
* Advising project Team on contractual issues
* Ensure commercial compliance of current conditions of contracts, protecting the position of the company
* Upward and down chain reporting to senior management and wider project team are aware of the position of the contract
* Pricing variations, Compensation events, manage contractual notifications and provide tender support
* Cost & Risk control and management
* Provide the Commercial and Contract Managers with accurate monthly project cost and performance reporting.
* Preparation of monthly financial statements of anticipated Final Accounts detailing status of variations (budget, submitted, agreed), in conjunction with project management
* Assist with monthly work in progress reports in conjunction with project manager
* Managing delegated resources (e.g., budgets, equipment, and contracts) as appropriate, to ensure value for money
* Being fully aware of and actively complying with Farrans policies and procedures relevant to your own responsibilities and to corporate policies and procedures including equality, sustainability and the environment, health and safety and data protection
Required Skills and Experience
* At least 8-10 years pre and post contract experience in a construction commercial management role working on major projects.
* Ideally have 2-3 years as a Senior Quantity Surveyor although not essential
* Experience administering NEC form of contract.
* Degree or demonstrable suitable commercial management experience
* Strong understanding of modern Civil Engineering techniques, plant and equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues.
* Appreciations of the impact of cost in the completion of a programme and development of a construction solutions.
* Experience in managing a team to meet tight deadlines.
* Strong IT Skills
* Full Manual UK driving license essential.
