Post Title: CPE Officer/ IPC Grade IV AdminPost Status: Specified PurposeDepartment Infection Prevention and ControlLocation: Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 Reports to: ADON, Infection Prevention and ControlSalary: Appointment will be made on Grade IV salary scale (€35,256- €51,206) €54,370 LSI at a point in line with Government pay policy.Hours of work: 35hours (Full Time)Closing Date: 25th Of March 2025 @5.00Pm Position Summary: Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, provides secretarial and administrative support to the CPE (Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales) and IPC programme. Plans and organises work to comply with established deadlines and priorities. Provide a variety of administrative functions and an efficient and effective clerical service to the Department of Clinical Microbiology & Infection Prevention and Control Department. Assist in the planning, co-ordinating and directing of the daily operation of the Department.Aware of the department KPI’s, goals and objectives and work with the IPC team to achieve same.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Operational managementParticipate in the development and management of appropriate and relevant SOPsBe familiar with the appropriate standards in relation to evaluation of infection control data, compliance with audits and the hospital’s infection control policies and procedures CommunicationEnsure good communication amongst IPCT, recording and circulating minutes when required. Staff Development/Training Ensure 100% attendance at Hospital Mandatory trainingIdentify own training needs with regard to the use of technologies as they apply to their role. General Duties Management of departmental letters as requireProvide a variety of administrative functions and an efficient and effective clerical service to the Department of Clinical Microbiology & Infection Prevention and Control Department. Attending and recording minutes of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) related meetings as required for the Microbiology and IPC departments.Assisting with the production of various policies, standard operating procedures and patient information leaflets. Maintain and update these documents as required. Assisting with conducting timely contact tracing and data validation. Assisting with the audit and review of microbiology and IPC records to ensure support for the CPE programme.Reviewing daily lists of CPE contact patients to identify any suitable CPE contacts that require screening on a particular day and advising relevant ward staff to complete this screening Tracking the CPE screening and isolation status of patients, and following up as appropriate. Specimen collection/ delivering to the lab as required.Reviewing CPE patient records and collating data to comply with national CPE reporting requirements of national agencies such as the Business Intelligence Unit of the Health Services Executive and the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.Assisting in record management for patients being identified as either CPE positive or as a CPE contact in an external healthcare facility.Tracking all charts that are given into their care and ensuring speedy return of same.Proof-reading and editing material for grammar, punctuation and spelling.Faxing, printing and photocopying when necessary. Answering, screening and routing telephone calls to Infection Prevention and Control and greeting, directing patients/families, visitors and staff.Making all relevant appointments for outpatients attending clinic. Cancelling of appointments where necessaryPreparing for clinics including pulling of chartsOn clinic days preparing all documentation and ensuring charts with correct episode numbers are available.
