Advanced Specialist Pharmacist - UPMC Aut Even & Whitfield
We are recruiting an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist - Pharmacotherapy on a full-time, permanent basis for UPMC Whitfield Hospital in the South East.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategically lead, manage and develop pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards and clinical areas of UPMC Whitfield Hospital.
2. Achieve and maintain competence in relevant clinical information systems, including Oncology/Haematology clinical information system (ARIA).
3. Be fully conversant with best practice and competency frameworks for clinical pharmacy services in specialised areas such as gastroenterology, surgery, oncology/haematology, and cardiology.
4. Develop and review medication policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines within UPMC Whitfield Hospital.
Key Responsibilities Continued
1. Manage safe and cost-effective entry of new medications onto hospital formulary, supporting colleagues in Pharmacy and other disciplines with expert advice and education.
2. Take a lead role in safe and cost-effective management of stock shortages within UPMC.
3. Assist in management of expanded access or compassionate use programmes, acting as first point of contact for Consultants.
Leadership and Management
* Lead and oversee development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required for procurement, storage, handling, and dispensing of medications.
* Contribute to provision of medicines information and advice on drug availability and procurement to clinical staff.
* Collaborate with Chief Pharmacist to develop medicine information resources for clinical colleagues and patients.
Professional Development
* Engage in continuous professional development appropriate to role and in compliance with professional obligations.
* Participate in Hospital's accreditation process.
Requirements
* Registered with Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or entitled to be so registered.
* At least 4 years satisfactory post-registration hospital experience.
* Requisite specialised knowledge and ability for proper discharge of duties.
