Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Nurse Manager II - Pain Management Full Time Hours, Permanent post The Pain Team at Mercy University Hospital is dynamic interdisciplinary team.
The team manages acute and chronic pain within Mercy University Hospital and throughout the region, and also meet the needs of patients who come from further afield to access specialist care.
The team services both inpatients and outpatient clinics for both acute and chronic pain management.
Mercy University Hospital treats and manages pain aligned to our subspecialties, but also that of chronic pain and pain associated with disease progression, and we support the wider patient care teams in the management of pain.
The CNS/ CNM2 will be: An integral part of the pain team, working with the Pain Consultant, Nursing Staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Have excellent skills in therapeutic communication, patient liaison and follow up care.
Advise on inpatient acute pain management.
Support and assist with specialist interventions which may be offered to manage pain and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Act as a resource and participate in review of epidural, paravertebral and local anaesthetic infusions.
Undertake formal and informal training of ward-based staff.
Have the ability to offer medication advice and support to optimise plan of care and patient outcomes.
Act as an expert in the development of policies and guidelines for pain management.
Eligibility Criteria CNS Eligibility: Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann (NMBI/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered.
Be registered in the General Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives in which the application is being made.
Have a minimum of 1 years' post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 1 years' full time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made.
Have a minimum of 1 years' experience or an aggregate of 1 years' full time experience in the specialist area.
Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award that is relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008).
Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed.
(2008).
Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
