The 5* Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate (part of the MHL Hotel Collection) is currently recruiting for a Bar Manager (Palmers Bar and Kitchen) to join our award-winning team.
Glenlo Abbey Hotel and Estate is located on the banks of Lough Corrib on a 138-acre estate with the original 18th-century manor house dating back to the 1740s. The Hotel comprises of 73 bedrooms including 6 suites, 11 Luxury Self-Catering Lodges, Corrib Room (catering for meetings, events, and weddings for up to 170 guests), River Room Restaurant, Palmers Bar and Kitchen, 2AA Rosette Pullman Restaurant (set aboard original Dining Carriages from the Orient Express), Glo Spa & Wellness, a 9 Hole Christy O'Connor Jr designed Championship Golf course and a 21 bay driving range.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage the day-to-day running of a busy bar and restaurant.
* Ensure that the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards are implemented and monitored in line with statutory requirements.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and other statutory and legal requirements.
* Update departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents.
* Report accidents of guests or staff and ensure that an Accident Report Form is completed. Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out and cleaning schedules are recorded.
* Promote sales awareness within the department and maximize sales opportunities to achieve/exceed budget sales targets.
* Actively contribute to sales in the bar, including in-house opportunities and average spend targeting.
* Identify and implement new and innovative concepts/service standards to maintain a competitive edge.
* Engage the team with upselling and revenue goals in line with departmental objectives.
* Cost out rosters in line with forecasts while maintaining service levels.
* Ensure all new employees understand hotel cash handling procedures, with signed copies on employee files.
* Demonstrate assertiveness to instruct, represent organizational standards, and discipline as necessary.
* In conjunction with the Food & Beverage Management Team, carry out departmental skills training and ensure all employees are aware and implementing departmental standards.
* Attend or read the handover briefing at the beginning of your shift to ensure awareness of any special requirements for the day.
* Participate in the recruitment and selection of new team members ensuring both a skills and hotel culture fit.
* Monitor employee satisfaction and engagement to limit turnover.
* Create an environment that promotes employee morale and encourages pride in their work.
* Maintain effective communication within the team by holding daily briefing sessions and attending meetings as required.
* Ensure all bar employees comply with company uniform standards and are presented in a professional manner.
* Ensure correct lighting and music levels are adhered to.
* Promote recycling, waste management, and efficient use of utilities in all areas.

* The main purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality service in the Palmer Bar and Restaurant. The manager will hold responsibility for the highest levels of guest satisfaction while ensuring operational and financial targets are met.
* This position will report directly to senior hotel management.
