Energy Sector Upstream Commercial Lead

Role Purpose:
This is an exciting opportunity for a business lead/commercial lead with experience in the energy sector to join our team. You'll be responsible for supporting the growth of new energy sites and projects, including site evaluations, land acquisition, and ensuring suitable connectivity to the grid.
About the Role
· Business Development: Lead investments or acquisitions into assets that provide services to the electricity grid, such as Battery Storage, Synchronise Condensers, Interconnectors, Capacity Contracts, and Peaking Plants.
· Land and Grid Development: Engage with landowners and developers to develop opportunities across thermal, storage, renewable generation, and net zero asset classes.
· Development Risk Assessment: Appraise development risk across all stages of development, from land to construction.
· Project Management: Manage all development activities throughout the development life-cycle, from inception to delivery.
· Risk Management: Value engineering and leading risk management throughout the project life-cycle.
· Budgetary Responsibility: Ongoing budgetary responsibility for project development and delivery stages.
· Commercial Strategy: Support upstream business development and net zero targets through modelling, market research & contract negotiation.
· Team Collaboration: Form excellent working relationships with Business Development functions to drive value generation and prioritise optimal project selection.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with several disciplines to deliver synergistic value to investments across external and internal resources.
About You
· A degree in a relevant discipline, with significant experience in large-scale development programme management in an infrastructure environment.
· Proven experience in project management of electricity-related construction projects, from pre-planning to commissioning.
· Experience working with key external stakeholders, such as ESB and Eirgrid.
· Strong knowledge of legal and contractual issues related to large infrastructure projects.
· A strong track record of development, commercial, leadership, and stakeholder management.
· Ability to prioritise work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and priorities.
