Job Title: Sous Chef
Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the small but mighty team at the Wattenden Arms. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a positive work environment. This is a Thurs-Sun role with the some holiday cover. Single room accommodation is available if required.
Responsibilities:
– Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef
– Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food preparation
– Oversee food production to ensure consistency and quality
– Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
– Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
– Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and procedures
– Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes
– Support the Head Chef in administrative tasks such as scheduling and budgeting
Skills:
– Strong background in hospitality and restaurant industry
– Proficient in various cooking techniques and food production processes
– Team management skills with the ability to lead and motivate staff
– Exceptional leadership qualities to inspire culinary excellence
– Extensive knowledge of food preparation and culinary best practices
Requirements:
– Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role
– Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
