The successful candidates will assume responsibility for optimising the contribution of the assigned product portfolio to the profitability and market share position of the company and its customers.
This will be achieved by the effective sourcing and supply of the relevant products of the requisite quality, at optimum prices and in a timely manner which exceed customers' and consumers' expectations. The Trading Manager will lead the development and implementation of an effective range strategy for the portfolio, grounded in the overall Trading strategy and consumer insight that supports the delivery of our brands.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Developing annual plans and budgets based on a defined strategy.
* Negotiating the total purchase cost of products for Musgrave and its customers.
* Setting wholesale and recommending retail selling prices and monitoring portfolio and product margins to ensure that profitability objectives for both the company and customers are being met.
* Developing excellent long-term supplier and customer relations to ensure supplier support for all aspects of the business and manage customer expectations.
* Managing the sourcing and introduction of Own Brand products in conjunction with the product development teams.
* Developing and maintaining implementation Tool Kits for use in store.
* Leading and participating in Projects.
The successful candidate will have/be:
* 3 years+ experience of buying and managing the profitable operation of a portfolio in a senior commercial role in a retail / FMCG environment.
* Strong product knowledge.
* Creative and innovative in developing the offer to consumers with the ability to spot trends and develop concepts that can be implemented across the retail estate.
* Proven track record of delivering commercial results.
* Knowledge of the Irish / UK grocery market and strong commercial acumen.
* Proven analytical skills combined with excellent written and oral communication capabilities.
* Knowledge of applying category management principles which would be an advantage.
* Degree or relevant experience.
This is a 12-month contract.

Musgrave operates a Work Smart hybrid working model where you can alternate your time between connecting and collaborating in the business and working remotely. Occasional business travel to other locations will also be required.
