Job Description
The Senior Project Manager will act as the Contracting Entity's representative, taking responsibility for managing a group of projects from planning and design through to the successful completion and commissioning.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivering the projects safely to time, to specification, ensuring the projects achieve all project goals and objectives in accordance with the Contracting Entity's employer's requirements and the corporate strategic intent for the portfolio.
Programme Requirements, Standards & Performance
* Oversight and monitoring of project delivery around schedule, interface, cost, variations, contract, and risk, liaising with relevant team members and functions as required.
* Development of the Project Execution Plan, ensuring the project is aligned to and delivers in accordance with the Contracting Entity's standards and methods.
* Engagement with and management of the project relationship with the Airport Transformation Manager.
Team Management
* Management of the performance of a team of Project Managers each responsible for the delivery of one or more projects.
* Oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Project Managers ensuring that the appropriate project management techniques and measures are being implemented to ensure delivery of the projects to cost, schedule, quality, and safety metrics.
* Development and maintenance of a detailed resourcing plan for the delivery of the projects under the responsibility of the Senior Project Manager.
* Providing technical and contractual support to the Project Managers in their day-to-day delivery functions.
* Responsibility for reporting on the performance of the projects under their remit.
* Work with the Programme Director to address any issues that arise in the course of the delivery of the projects.
Project Management Activities
* Leadership of the coordination of the project ensuring interfaces are considered and addressed at all stages of the project lifecycle.
* Maintenance of the Responsible / Accountable / Consulted / Informed task tracker.
* Work with the technical teams in coordinating and managing the design consultants and other external service providers.
* Organisation of the appropriate design review meetings and responsibility for communicating design acceptance to the Contractor.
* Responsibility for communicating design changes to relevant members of the project team and stakeholders who may be impacted.
* Reporting monthly on the tasks throughout the project's lifecycle including construction works (during the construction phase) that have been undertaken.
* Maintenance of the overall project risk register and update at monthly progress meetings.
* Identification of opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates, and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
* Monitoring and application of performance management techniques.
* Management of the change control process.
* Management of the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
NEC Specific Activities (where applicable)
* Review and acceptance of programme submissions.
* Leadership and action in the spirit of mutual trust and co-operation.
* Communication and issue of documents as required by the ECC and performance of any other duties as stated in the contract.
* Carrying out the duties as the Project Manager as required by the Contracting Entity's contract for the Programme, maintaining close contact with the Client in order to ensure the Project Manager's actions reflect the Contracting Entity's objectives for the project.
* Management of the compensation event process so that the Contractor is fairly compensated for any Contracting Entity-initiated change on the project.
* Ensuring the Contractor notifies compensation events in good time so that the Contracting Entity is not disadvantaged.
* Assessment of payment after each assessment interval.
