We are hiring a Chief Medical Scientist-Microbiology for a Private Hospital in Cork, Ireland.
Responsibilities Participate in the future development of a Laboratory Service that supports the needs of healthcare professionals and their patients and is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the Laboratory.
Take part in the clinical microbiology diagnostic service, in collaboration with Consultant Microbiologists and Laboratory Management team, to ensure patient results are delivered to the highest standard in a timely manner.
Participate and discharge duties required to provide operational services within a multi-disciplinary laboratory/team.
Maintain professional competency to work in accordance with the laboratory management system and act impartially and ethically in the discharge of duties.
Observe the strictest confidence when dealing with all aspects of patient information.
Discharge duties in accordance with laboratory policies and be responsible for the quality of that work.
Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities within the organisation.
Encourage professional development of staff, through promoting self-learning, formal courses, or formal and/or informal on the job training.
Develop, update and review policies, procedures and guidelines for the department.
Promote good communication within the team.
Participate in developing and leading the introduction of new ideas and methods aligned to strategic objectives of the organisation.
Requirements CORU-registered (or proof that an application is pending) and qualified for the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine Fellowship.
After qualifying, seven years of experience in a medical laboratory, at least four of which were in a microbiology promotion.
Service development expertise and ISO15189 certification.
Proven ability to communicate with senior management and leadership in a mature and productive manner.
Adaptable, cooperative, and dedicated to achieving organisational and team goals.
Influential and patient-focused, with outstanding communication abilities.
Understanding and expertise in risk management.
JCI hospital accreditation experience is preferred.
