Overview
Leadership of a team of high performing Quality engineering professionals. The role is responsible for driving continuous improvement in product quality and compliance while partnering with Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams in achieving customer delivery and cost objectives.
In addition, this role will build in Quality on new process/product integrations. The role requires a focus on strategic initiatives as the manufacturing area scales to align processes and controls with the manufacturing area strategy and its future business vision. Responsibility for developing and maintaining quality procedures and controls to ensure that product meets a high standard of customer satisfaction and conforms to global standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor field performance of product and customer feedback. Own and manage quality discrepancies related to process, product, and customer complaints; and develops scope, disposition, and corrective actions for prevention of future discrepancies. Has a passion for people leadership and provides guidance to team on development, performance, and problem-solving. Reports to functional and/or organization management on quality performance and team accomplishments.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supervise and coach a team of Engineers to achieve team metrics, department objectives, and organizational goals.
2. Provide guidance and training to staff, assist them in attaining career goals, motivate individuals to achieve results, and recruit and maintain a high-quality staff.
3. Provide daily, weekly, monthly reporting of key metrics and develop action plans when targets/goals are not met.
4. Ensure accuracy of reports in support of Business Metric and Quality Management Review (QMR).
5. Perform trend analysis, identify trends, and determine/implement corrective action.
6. Maintain and enhance cross-functional team relationships within the areas/quality function and cross sites.
7. Identify and lead continuous improvement projects with a focus on Quality in support of continuous improvement or complaint reduction initiatives.
8. Foster excellent cross-functional communications and integrate the work of multiple stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
9. Champion a Preventive Culture by supporting initiatives such as PCAPA, WSVA, and Quality Catch.
10. Support the development of Strategic plans and goals for the area in line with site and business goals.
11. Quality Management leadership for delivering strategic projects as part of BEST4.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
1. Minimum of a Honours Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science, or other related field.
2. 5 Years Experience in medical device or other regulated industry.
3. People Management/Leadership experience is required.
4. Capable of leading complex planning, brainstorming, Kaizen, and similar sessions related to process and/or product improvement.
5. Team player with strong work ethic and positive mentality.
6. Strong written & verbal communication skills with excellent stakeholder management.
7. Strong technical knowledge & understanding of product is an advantage.
8. Knowledgeable in Medical Device Regulations.
