Duties & Responsibilities
As a Planner/Scheduler, once a valid work request is submitted, you will prioritize, plan, schedule, and follow up on the accuracy of the job plan for all planned (PM, PMD, and corrective) work. Your focus will be proactive, optimizing workforce productivity and minimizing plant downtime by managing work 2 weeks to 1 month in advance. In performance of these duties, you will have the following responsibilities:
1. Serve as the principal contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operation planning.
2. Review all planned work requests from assigned areas and determine validity and accuracy of information.
3. Review work requests for accuracy and clarity, ensuring clear scope of work, realistic completion dates, and proper lead times.
4. Identify work requiring engineering design and review them with engineering.
5. Escalate issues to the Reliability Manager for work which does not appear to be valid or costly.
6. Determine the best way to accomplish the work, consulting with Leads, Supervisors, and others as necessary.
7. Obtain and organize all information required for the crafts to perform the work.
8. Identify and secure all parts and materials required to complete the work.
9. Work with Stores to manage spare part usage effectively.
10. Ensure safety is the highest priority in all aspects of work performed.
11. Provide job estimates based on craft or skills required.
12. Manage the status of work control and backlog for work order submission to completion.
13. Verify all material, information, tools, and labor are available prior to scheduling.
14. Develop a preliminary workforce schedule by crew ensuring all skills requirements are met.
15. Publish the weekly maintenance planned schedule and ensure the workload matches resources.
16. Participate in scheduling meetings with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders.
17. Finalize the maintenance resource schedule based on agreed plans.
18. Communicate schedules to all resources involved.
19. Manage a backlog of work orders requiring significant facility shutdowns.
20. Continuously improve job estimates, planning, and scheduling based on feedback.
21. Actively manage the Safety Work Order process ensuring compliance.
22. Develop and communicate work scope for planned corrective and preventative maintenance tasks.
23. Keep accurate metrics on the performance of planning and scheduling functions.
Minimum Requirements:
NFQ Level 8 degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) discipline with a minimum of 2.1.
Strong computer literacy including Intermediate (Microsoft suite).
Understanding of Preventive/Corrective Maintenance practices.
Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team.
Enthusiastic self-starter.
Preferred Experience:
Database analytic tools literacy (Cognos, Spotfire, Tableau).
GMP/GDP knowledge.
