KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION is a voluntary organisation committed to the delivery of life-enhancing services and supports, responding to the needs, wishes, and choices of people with an intellectual disability, connected to support networks in their communities. The Association provides community-based Day, Residential, and Support Services for more than 250 individuals.

Description
We are recruiting for the following position:
Post: Support Worker
Maternity Leave Cover
Location: Tralee Day Service
Roster: Mon: 08:45 - 17:15 / Tues - Fri: 08:45 - 17:00
*Rosters may be subject to change due to the operational requirements of the service.*
The Role:

* The core activities for the post of Support Worker will include planning and setting goals with the person to assist them in meeting their personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training and supported employment needs.
* The Support Worker operates within the framework of a person-centred approach and actively engages with and promotes co-operation and partnership with other services, both internally and externally, and in particular with families.
* Along with supporting adults with an intellectual disability in the day centre and community, the Support Worker will be required to complete all relevant reports and documentation. They will incorporate and implement New Directions in line with national standards for day services. The Support Worker will provide physical support, including personal care, emotional support, and health care support while encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests. They will also teach life skills and work alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
Qualifications:
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support. Equivalent qualifications will be considered, with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience working with adults with an intellectual disability.
* Applications will also be considered from candidates who have successfully completed at least 1 year of their Nursing or Social Care degree.
* A full driver's licence with access to a car insured for business purposes is desirable.
* Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.
