Assistant Financial Controller – Clayton Hotel Cork City Objective of the Role Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Financial Controller will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance function within the hotel.
This includes the management of controls and compliance and ensuring reporting is maintained to a high standard.
They should provide business acumen to parties both within and outside the finance function to mitigate risk and seize opportunities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Commercial Focus Reviewing costs and implementing processes where savings can be made.Working closely with other hotel departments to ensure understanding of KPIs.Reviewing margins and highlighting where improvements can be made.Preparation and review of weekly revenue and payroll forecasts.A prominent and leading involvement in the month-end process.Championing weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Department.People Focus Supporting and becoming a key advisor to both the Financial Controller and the General Manager.Assisting in writing and implementing training plans and courses for non-financial managers within the hotel.Ensuring approachability and building relationships with other Heads of Department and staff within the hotel.Controls and Compliance Ensuring all financial controls and procedures across the hotel are robust, sustainable, maintained, and updated.Examining Internal Audit Reports and agreeing on corrective actions.Championing the use of technology and more effective and efficient ways of doing business.Month End Preparing the month-end lead schedule.Reconciling balance sheet control accounts including accruals and prepayments.Managing income audit to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.Managing the collection of debts on a timely basis.Requirements: We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational, analytical, and management skills.The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant.Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.2-3 years of proven experience in an accountancy role.About our culture: Dalata Hotel Group – Ireland's largest hotel group has a number of exciting positions on the horizon.
