The successful candidate will spend most of the time in schools and return to base following the school day.
Role Purpose
This Child Disability Team supports children with complex needs arising from a disability. The post's primary purpose is to support children attending two Special Schools located in the Portlaoise area.
Key Responsibilities:
* Organize individual and group caseloads, including assessments, interventions, and diagnosis for children (0-18 years) with disabilities such as physical, sensory, and learning disabilities, developmental delays, and autism.
* Foresee potential challenges or competing priorities and take appropriate action to maintain service standards.
* Foster a sense of accountability for resources within the team, ensuring value for money.
* Monitor, record, and report performance outcomes and service delivery statistics to meet targets.
* Show innovation in managing resources to sustain and enhance service quality.
* Provide line management and clinical supervision to basic grade occupational therapists, volunteers, and students as required.
Requirements
* Be registered, or eligible for registration, as an Occupational Therapist with CORU.
* Have at least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-qualification clinical experience.
* Hold full CORU Registration.
* Experience working with children with disabilities, including physical, sensory, intellectual, and autism spectrum disorder.
* Relevant postgraduate training related to child disability services.
* Specific experience in assessing and supporting children with autism and other disabilities.
* Experience in working with children with life-limiting conditions.
* Previous experience in a Senior Occupational Therapy role.
* Familiarity with assessments under the AON process.
